Photo Diary: Labor Day in Ouakam, Senegal

I had the day off for Labor Day and went to the beach.

Labor Day is a US public holiday that fell on Monday September 4 this year. I went to Ouakam, one of Dakar’s bustling neighborhood, isnstead of hosting a barbecue or attending a party. After seeing the Mosquee de la Divinite, I went to the beach behind it. There were many people there, perhaps because Labor Day coincided with the end of a long weekend to celebrate the Muslim holiday¬†Tabaski (Eid al Adha) in Senegal. A few people introduced themselves to me, answered my questions, took my pictures, and let me take theirs. See below some of the photos:
